THE EXISTENCE OF THE STATUS QUO IS UNACCEPTABLE. A MOVEMENT DAY IS MUCH MORE THAN A DAY. IT IS A PLATFORM TO LIGHT UP CITY MOVEMENTS.
WHAT DO WE BELIEVE?
BELIEF STRUCTURE
The Kingdom of God will become more real in each city’s life as we work together to make the Gospel of grace, truth, mercy, and justice visible and concrete.
WHY DOES IT MATTER?
THE GOSPEL
Jesus lived the life we were created for and died the death we deserved. His life and death are necessary for the world to have hope. People all throughout the world need to be given the life-giving opportunity to live the Jesus-life now and forever.
CHURCH UNITY
Jesus said His final prayer that all His followers would be one less than twenty-four hours before His crucifixion, as recorded in John 17. The best demonstration of God’s love to an unbelieving world is the church’s unity across denominational, racial, generational, and geographic divides. The perfume of belief is released when the church is united, whereas division breeds atheism in the world.
CITIES
Between AD 30 (Christ’s Ascension) and AD 312 (Conversion of Constantine), the number of Christians increased by 80,000 percent, rising from 25,000 to 20 million. The expansion occurred in the Roman Empire’s strategic cities. Never before in human history has such a large number of people been exposed to the gospel as in this new global diaspora.
EMERGING LEADERS
The ability to reach young leaders in big cities is critical to the global growth of Christianity. Most spiritual movements, according to Dave Howard’s book Student Power in World Mission, are established by people who made their faith commitment before the age of twenty and distinguished themselves as leaders before the age of twenty-eight. The greatest difficulty facing the world church is the faith abandonment of the emerging leader generation, which is occurring in locations as different as Korea, Egypt, and the United States.
MOVEMENT
We are driven by a desire to see rapid expansion — in conversions, church plants, the spread of the gospel’s impact in society, and in the face of the world’s most pressing humanitarian issues.
